About the event
Join us Sunday, September 28 at 5:00pm to dedicate the Asheville Butterfly Trail's fourth station, the tiny, fascinating Summer Azure. it’s blue when it emerges in the spring but lavender if it emerges in the summer!
The Blue Ridge Audubon Chapter partnered with Bee City USA-Asheville to host this station to promote understanding of the critical role butterfly and moth caterpillars play in feeding baby birds. A single nest of chickadees requires an astounding 6000-9000 caterpillars to fledge! More butterflies = more birds!
The Asheville Butterfly Trail is well on its way to installing at least ten stations around Buncombe County, each highlighting a different butterfly and encouraging visitors to plant the native plants they need to host their caterpillars.
